Robert F. Kennedy Hospital Donation, 2007
In 2007, Robert F. Kennedy Hospital in Los Angeles closed its doors and its owners (the Daughters of Charity) donated the majority of their medical equipment and supplies to the Seton Institute who, in return, donated it all to the Catholic University of Beira in Mozambique and the Central Hospital of Mozambique in Beira. Over 20 sea containers full of everything from hospital beds to surgical equipment to computers and medical texts were received at the port in Beira, Mozambique.
One of the founding board members of MHC, Dr. Woodrow Myers, took the lead role in coordinating this effort after his trip to Mozambique in 2005. The shipment was sponsored through the Myers Family Foundation in conjunction with the Daughters of Charity and Seton Institute.
